Patience is NOT just a Virtue

I missed posting on the amazing meditation time I had yesterday … because I was spending the evening with my dad.  He called me up a couple of days ago to say he would be in the area.  Some of you may recall that I felt prompted to write my dad about the spiritual EXPLOSIONS (I won’t just call them breakthroughs!) that have been ongoing in my life (the post was called “Father“).  My father is a missionary and he left a fairly lucrative job to serve God when I was three years old.  Well … surprisingly (it shouldn’t be since God prompted me, but it was) my dad responded to my e-mail and we have exchanged several back and forth message about spirituality.  We had a pretty amazing hour long drive/conversation on God and what led him to make such a decision in his life.

Anyhow, on to the posting … and yes the above pertains to what I received :-).

——-

Merriam Webster’s definition of virtue is as follows: “A quality considered morally good or desirable in a person.”

While this is all fine and good … it seems an extremely limiting view of such a life changing phenomenon as patience.  When I look at my life over the past year, I am continually BLOWN away by what has been brought into fruition by my decision to stop trying to make things be the way that I want them to be … and waiting on God’s guidance and promptings to guide me.

Yes … there were times that I had angry three page letters written to people as I worked through things.  Yes … there were times that I proverbially “howled at the moon” in rage or frustration, or both.  Those letters were deleted and never sent.  Those tantrums were (for the most part) limited to my own personal time.  I was emerging from the cocoon … and it was damnably uncomfortable!

Still though … I waited on God.  I committed myself to daily meditation, so that I could hear God’s voice and feel God’s promptings … and I used those as my signposts for where to go and what to do.

In just a year, and even moreso the past six months, I am filled with wonder at what God has wrought in my life … it is only in retrospect that I am able to see it though.  The Patience is a MUST in order to actually be able to see things in retrospect!

Take this weekend, with my dad.  I didn’t know, when I felt God’s prompting to meditate on healing this week, that my dad would be coming down.  Yet all of the things that I learned about healing, were perfectly prepared and in place for me to be able to receive God’s healing in that particular part of my soul.  I created a space for God to do work … and just soaked in that Love, and Forgiveness.  It was beautiful.

The thing that blows me away though, is how God prepared me for that by having me meditate on healing all week!!  What a trip!

God is there … God is good … and God WILL guide you.  But you MUST have patience … patience is not just a virtue … Patience is IMPERATIVE.

Religion4All is an idea: that every human being (no matter their race, religion, sexuality, social status, lifestyle, or any other possible factor) is LOVED by God; just … as … they are.

We all are loved by God, and NO religion or person has a monopoly on it. Every single person on this planet is loved equally by God … SO many are cut off from God because they are told they don’t belong. God loves everyone … we ALL are beautiful creations … we don’t need to cringe when we hear the words “God”, or “religion”, or their judgments … God LOVES us all!

There is no requirement to change in order to be LOVED by God, or to LOVE God. God is LOVE, and LOVE is God … period. There is no one who God loves more than anyone else … there are only those who choose to LOVE more … to love God more, and consequently then to love each other more. In doing so, we grow closer to God … and know God.

By opening our hearts, and minds to God (free of boundaries like religion, or social trends); by LOVING God … we are exactly where we are meant to be. If we maintain that openness, never allowing any person or event to make us close our hearts, we will be guided by God to be who we are meant to be.

In that space of openness we can then live a life of LOVE, and be guided to where we are meant to be … forever in LOVE.

I haven’t read all the post yet; I got excited when I read that you were “emerging from the cocoon” in the past.

I am currently in said cocoon! And about ten minutes ago was even thinking about it. About a week ago I found a bug cocoon on a dog walk I went on. I’d never seen one before, so it felt fairly significant. Can’t wait to be butterfly!

I think you’re further ahead of me on a spiritual journey I’ve set out on. It’s great to hear about someone on the same path. I feel encouraged. Thank you so much for sharing.

God’s timing is beyond our comprehension … like I said in this post, we can only see the reality of the timing of that Divine plan in retrospect. As long as you are loving God, connecting with God, and maintaining that open-hearted connection? You are EXACTLY where God wants you to be :-).

I enjoy reading your posts/responses … I can tell that you have a passion and zeal for God; it comes across and is beautiful.

Thank you so much for the kind comments about my blog, I really appreciate it. It’s so easy to think “do people really get anything out of reading my posts” and to doubt yourself. Thank you sincerely.
