“Letting Go” does not mean “Giving Up”

I continued my ongoing series of Adele meditations today; wherein I meditate while listening to Adele’s 21 CD, and see what is stirred up to give to God.  In the past week I have been focusing and meditating on being in the Present, and isolating out the Future and Past from my mind … just imagine how difficult THAT would be while listening to Adele songs! (lol)  Everything about Adele’s songs have to do with heartbreak, unrequited love, etc. … things that most of us can relate to, but definitely NOT an exercise in being in the “here and now”.

While listening to this song specifically, “Rolling in the deep“, there were QUITE a few overwhelming emotions that came up.  The interesting thing I found myself truly battling to stay in the Present … fighting even.  When I really had a breakthrough was when I allowed myself to just let go.  What that means is that I stopped fighting the past, but I also ceased clinging to my hopes for the future … if that doesn’t make sense, let me put it another way.  I basically just allowed my heart to be open … and for every emotion I had to exist, just as it was … there was no clinging, or pushing away.  A friend of mine calls that opening the front door and the back door, and just letting everything go right on through.

So I felt heartbreak, and I let it go.  I felt desires for what I want to be, and I let it go.  Every word, every lyric, of every song … kept dragging me into either the future or the past … heartbreak, or rejection … in both places … and I simply allowed those feelings to be, and let them go.

Being in the Present is more about letting go, than fighting … it is more about letting go, than giving up.

I have always thought of that phrase, “If you love someone, you will let them go … if they come back to you, then it was meant to be.” (a paraphrase)  The thing to me is that this phrase always seemed to intone giving up … that you resign yourself to just being without the other person, place, or thing.  What I realized today is that this is not what this phrase is about at ALL!  You can still have your dreams, and hopes, and fears, and worries … but you just let them pass through you.  You don’t cling, or push away … they just are, and then they pass through you.  The instant they do that, they become a part of the Past.  Your dreams for the future are most frequently a result from what you have experienced in the Past … you want to overcome your Past, or prove something to yourself that is related to your Past.  To be in the Present, you cannot dwell on the Past or the Future.  You simply allow those motivations to go.

So what does that mean?  Well, you don’t give up on what, or whom, you love … you simply don’t cling.  You don’t fight your fears and anxieties … you simply allow them to be, and to pass on through … accept both, allow them to fall away … and then move forward as your True Self, here in the Present.  The Present is where God is … and God has SO much Love for you.

Religion4All is an idea: that every human being (no matter their race, religion, sexuality, social status, lifestyle, or any other possible factor) is LOVED by God; just … as … they are.

We all are loved by God, and NO religion or person has a monopoly on it. Every single person on this planet is loved equally by God … SO many are cut off from God because they are told they don’t belong. God loves everyone … we ALL are beautiful creations … we don’t need to cringe when we hear the words “God”, or “religion”, or their judgments … God LOVES us all!

There is no requirement to change in order to be LOVED by God, or to LOVE God. God is LOVE, and LOVE is God … period. There is no one who God loves more than anyone else … there are only those who choose to LOVE more … to love God more, and consequently then to love each other more. In doing so, we grow closer to God … and know God.

By opening our hearts, and minds to God (free of boundaries like religion, or social trends); by LOVING God … we are exactly where we are meant to be. If we maintain that openness, never allowing any person or event to make us close our hearts, we will be guided by God to be who we are meant to be.

In that space of openness we can then live a life of LOVE, and be guided to where we are meant to be … forever in LOVE.
